We’ve already seen Apple removing Google’s maps from the native Maps application in Apple’s upcoming iOS 6 software for iPhones and iPads, however it seems that the YouTube application that comes as part of the software on iOS is going to be removed. Apple has released a statement saying that this is due to the license that allows the YouTube app to be included being terminated. However, Google will be releasing their own app which will be made available some time after the release of iOS 6.
This could be a wise move. It will allow Google to update the application on their own schedule instead of having to stick to Apple’s iOS updates schedule. That being said, we really do hope that Google will still have access to Apple’s AirPlay standard.
